After coming out of the mountains I was in the high-plains desert area north of the city of Bend, which incidentally is the city of my motherís birth.  The view here is looking toward the Sisters, a series of mountain peaks.

This is East Lake, in the Newberry Crater Natíl Monument.  I came here when I was about 11 years old.  On the day I came here the state was having a free fishing day.  I must have caught over 20 brown trout.  The only problem was that they were all about 4 or 5 inches in length.
